History
Beamish Construction Inc. began as K. J. Beamish Construction Co. Limited – a family business.
Mr. Kingston John (KJ) Beamish founded the company in February of 1946 in the Greater Toronto Area. One of the first contracts awarded to Mr. Beamish was a winter maintenance job with the City of Toronto. At that time, salt was spread by hand from the back of a single-axle dump truck. The driver and shoveler would switch roles every few miles to maintain production. Then in the summer months, the crews get out to do road oiling. The Company’s head office moved to a few different locations after Dufferin St., including Bayview Avenue North, John St., and King City.
Today
Beamish Construction has grown from our humble beginnings over 75 years ago. Today, Beamish runs a construction operation that is supported by a fleet of road-building equipment, asphalt plants and concrete plants. We currently own thousands of acres of plant sites, gravel pits, quarries, and properties. The legacy continues under Beamish Construction Inc. operating throughout Northern Ontario with office locations in Sudbury, Hanmer and Elliot Lake.
The value of geographic diversification within Beamish Construction is highlighted in Elliot Lake. For 40+ years, the company’s Elliot Lake division has adapted to a changing work environment. This location alone has an asphalt plant, a concrete plant, 8 gravel pits and 1 hard rock quarry which are used to manufacture and supply products and services for a variety of projects.
At Beamish Construction, we believe that success in the future will result from continued efforts to improve the quality of our products and of our team as we continue to service Northern Ontario for another 70 years to come.
