INDIGENOUS ENGAGEMENT

At Beamish Construction, we understand that our greatest resource is people. The diversity and knowledge of our labour force are key to our continued growth and success across Northern Ontario. We proudly partner with indigenous communities to foster the coordination of human and natural resources for a stronger today and more sustainable tomorrow.
Beamish is committed to working with First Nation communities to help build a stronger and more sustainable Northern Ontario economy. Three out of the top five major indigenous urban populations in Ontario are located in the North, so creating meaningful, long-lasting relationships with indigenous partners is essential to our continued success at Beamish Construction.

Our approach to working with Indigenous communities is:

  • Consultation: We engage with communities to help ensure they understand the potential impacts and benefits of operations and find ways to mitigate any unwanted outcomes.
  • Relationships: Our relationships with Indigenous communities are forged based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Employment: We support education and training programs that may help community members find employment with either Beamish or another company.
  • Investment: We support a range of organizations focused on the needs that are important to each of our local communities.
  • Business: Beamish Construction goes out of our way to include Indigenous-owned businesses in our operations.

Working together for a more sustainable Future

Beamish Construction recognizes the value in collaboration and the benefits of training First Nation residents to create economic independence while strengthening entrepreneurial ventures. Beamish Construction makes cultural training opportunities available to its employees and contractors to prepare them for a culturally diverse work environment.
